For information and action:

Due to a short notice, urgent request by a boat owner on the Medway at Tonbridge. The Medway Navigation team need to lower the Town Lock pen by approx. 600mm to assist with safe passage of a barge under Two bridges in Tonbridge.

This operation is planned for Wednesday 19th June at 07:30 and will take a maximum of 1 hour to complete. The pen level will be reinstated immediately after the barge is through the bridges.

The situation will be monitored constantly by the navigation team and due to the short period of pen lowering we would not expect any impacts on the environment.

Relevant duty officers and river users will be informed prior to the commencement date.

If you have any comments or concerns regarding this please contact Allington Lock on 01622 752864.
